Engaged Buddhist icons Aung San Suu Kyi and Sulak Sivaraksa met recently when Sivaraksa visited Burma with a Thai delegation, reports the International Network of Engaged Buddhists. You can see photographs of the two together here and here.

In addition to visiting with Suu Kyi, the delegation also visited Shwedagon Pagoda and another member of parliament and senators from Kachin State in Burma.

Sivaraksa, a Nobel Peace Prize nominee, is one of Thailand's preeminent social activists. He's the founder and director of Thailand's Sathirakoses-Nagapradeepa Foundation, an advisor to the INEB, and the author of Seeds of Peace: A Buddhist Vision for Renewing Society. Suu Kyi is the Nobel Peace laureate and leader of the National League for Democracy in Burma who was recently elected to Parliament after spending 15 of 21 years between 1989 and 2010 under house arrest.
